John Ratnaswamy has over 20 years of experience in counseling, teaching, and writing on lawyer professional responsibility and ethics matters.

 

• John served as an internal loss prevention and legal ethics counsel at two major law firms and a boutique law firm for over 20 years.

• John has served as an adjunct professor of Legal Ethics at the Northwestern University School of Law since 1994.

• John has served as a legal ethics columnist in The Bencher, the national magazine of the American Inns of Court, since 1997.

• John has been a Chair of the Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee of the Solo, Small Firm, and General Practice Division of the American Bar Association since 2011.  He served on the ABA’s Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility from 2003 to 2006.

• John served as a member of the Hearing Board of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission from March 2011 to February 2016.  In his final year on the Hearing Board, he served as one of approximately 20 Chairs.
