FERC Enacts New Inverter-Based Generator Standards

On July 24, 2025, the Federal Regulatory Energy Commission (“FERC”) approved new reliability standards intended to address the increasing role of inverter-based resources (“IBRs”) in the grid.


The final rule, developed by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (“NERC”) based on a 2024 rulemaking, will go into effect thirty days after publication.
